i spent a totally unproductive day today... mostly on9 surfing n chatting n stuff...

oh ya...i discovered dat my laptop's got a virus in it... damn! i dunno wad to do!!! so i've been downloading spyware n stuff all day long... now i've got 'avg anti-spyware' 'system doctor' 'mcAfee security centre' n goodness noes wad else... so if any of u out there have any idea wad to do insituations like dis, pls let me noe. n dun tell me to go reformat k? i feel damn siennn to bring my laptop to low yatt... n i'd probably get it robbed from me on the way there or worse, rite after i reformat it. =/

there's also dis relli annoying exclamation sign in a yellow triangle dat keeps popping security alerts up. evrytime i (x) it, it pops up again. screw it!

*sigh* i had no internet for sooo long. then when i get internet, dis happens. how absolutely delightful.

anyway... enough ranting. (serves me right for being so un-IT-savvy) charles helped me change my blogskin!!! hehe~ i was getting annoyed wif the way my last 1 only appeared on the left side of the screen. so now i've got a full screen blog! yay~

he kinda lost my links n chatterbox n blogcounter n had his say under 'your tag stuff' but im still relli grateful to him! hehe~ thanx lou kung! ure the best! =p

here's anther quiz i took... dont u juz love taking quizzes? =p

http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:

Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

hmmm... i tink everything was semi-accurate except the education part...dat was seriously wrong.. me...study hard??? LOL!!!

wait... there's another page!

Here is the analysis:

  1. You've got great self-confidence and you're full of charm. Most guys who get to know you will be attracted to you. You are far from sweet and proper; your intriguing personality fascinates them. Most guys find it easy to fall for a girl like you.
  2. You really care about other people's feelings and are quite serious about the issues that affect your life. You are sincere, and your concern for the well-being of others makes many people want to be your friend.
  3. You strictly follow rules, and you expect other people to be the same as well. People can get tired of you easily, as you can make them feel a little guilty about themselves. You always make decisions on your own, and can be dismissive of other people's advice. You like to be the leader in groups, but can forget to be concerned about the people you are with.
  4. Guys see you as being a thinker and a careful person. They will be really attracted to this quality in you, but you need to learn to speak your mind, otherwise people will find you too shy and quiet. Learn to relax and lighten up--it's okay to have fun sometimes. When you learn to develop your fun-loving side, guys are going to flock to your side.
  5. Your boyfriend believes that you are a strong and independent person. Your confidence and cheerfulness make you an attractive person to be around, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to what other people, including your boyfriend, are thinking.
apparently according to no.5, my bf believes dat im a strong and independent person... hmmm...roigghhhttt...

What's your personality love style?

Here is the analysis:

You desire a love that will last forever. You are quite serious about finding this type of love, and that's why you think carefully about the men that you meet before deciding whether you could really love them. You don't just develop a crush on someone overnight: you look at a person's personality and other aspects of their life before deciding to form an attachment. If a guy doesn't meet your expectations, you would rather be alone. Your love has to be perfect. Be careful though, you could be missing out on some worthy relationships because your standards are so high.

there's MORE!!!

Here is the analysis:

Bright and Cheerful

You are always cheerful and charming. You never get too serious with people when they're around, but when you are alone, you think carefully about what they have said. That's because you don't want anyone to see you being too somber. Your personality means you have a lot of friends and you are often the center of attention. Many people who fall into this category become artists and movie stars, perhaps fame could be yours in the future as well.

u guys muz be so bored by now. lol! aww... i guess i'll stop here n cont some other time...

movie n shoes!

i went to 1u juz now. (today is the last day of mega sale!!!) wif my 2 indian hsemates. we had dinner at kenny rogers. they ordered the normal 1/4 chicken but i ordered lamb. hehe~ it cost me $18.90 n i tot it was exp coz it was juz one slab of lamb (albeit a thick slab) but meena (one of my hsemates) tot it was cheap. then i told her dat i suspected dat she was ripped off b4 in the restaurants she went to coz she tot it was cheap. =p

after dinner we went to buy the movie tix. it was 8.00 n the movie was at 9.00. but still, it was a fri nite so we only managed to get tix in the 2nd row, wayyyy up front. oh well...

then we had some time so we went browsing... 1st we went to vincci but nth caught our eyes, then we went to several other shoe shops n meena got a pair of ipanema slippers at studio R. i got myself a pair of shoes for formal wear... im so excited coz they're so pretty!!! n im gonna wear them on sun when i help out at the mooting competition! yay~

by then it was kinda late so we rushed to the cinema. the movie was called "perfume: the story of a murderer". it was basically about a guy who had an amazing sense of smell n he became obseesed with preserving the smell of girls, so he killed them in order to get their scent.

the beggining n middle was not bad... but the ending totally sucked! this movie has the worst ending of all the movies n storybooks dat i have ever watched or read n believe me, dat is ALOT. the ending gives me the feeling dat the script writer wrote too good a script n din noe how to end it. so he tried for the most dramatic ending he cud tink of n it comes across as totally lame n it is completely irrational!

*spoiler* there was 1 part where the father of the girl he killed walks up to him (the perfumer/murderer) menacingly holding a sword then when he reaches him, suddenly drops on his knees n begs forgiveness. WTH!!! so rubbish!!! *insert olympic pool sized swt here*

the movie ending is a total let down n my hsemate n i were laughing towards the end of the movie... *spoiler* the part when the perfumer released the perfume n every1 juz started having sex rite there n then was hilarious for its ridiculousness. durkkha n i were laughing aloud. lolz

if u ever wanna watch a movie with a ridiculous ending, dis is it.

anyway... see my shoes!!!

my shoes from 'voir'

only $34.95!!! it was actually $69.90 but on 50% discount! i love mega-sales!!!

nice le~
(i had to stand on the mat to provide more contrast)

then i realized dat my clothes n shoes matched!

see those heels! im loving it! =p

Mooting

‘Wads mooting?’ u may ask. It’s a legal debate between an appellant and a respondent in front of an impartial judge. A bundle of authorities must be submitted to the opposite party and the judge a week b4 the mooting. This is so that they may read through the cases dat ure gonna be using later. So wads a bundle of authorities anyway? Its basically a file containing cases that u will be using for ur moot. U also have to include definitions that ure gonna be using. All these definitions have to be from an authority, meaning a dictionary or a textbook or etc. a case in itself is an authority because the judgement of the case makes it a precedent for other cases.

Like I mentioned b4, there r 2 sides to the moot. An appellant n a respondent. Usually for the respondents, there is a senior respondent n a junior respondent n vice versa for the appellants. Does it all sound a lil complicated? Well, it gets worse.

Here’s how my partner n I prepared for our moot. We were given the mooting question about a month b4 the moot. I ignored it till about 1½ weeks b4 the moot coz we had client interview the week b4 we were supposed to hand in the bundle of authorities. After the client interview I relaxed a bit then was reminded by my extremely stressed classmate about the bundle of authorities. So I copied a few of the titles of the cases dat my fren already had n my partner n I printed them out from lexis nexis (lexis nexis is a site for lawyers n law students but it has to be paid for. My verdict of it is dat… It sucks! Sometimes u type the title of a case n its search result is a list of cases, none of which is the title u typed. So siennnnnn!!!)

I printed out 4 cases so I had to read thru them to see if I could cite any part of the judgements for my moot. Dis is an extremely tedious job. Judges love to use the most canggih words possible. They also love to make it as difficult as possible for ppl to understand. *sigh* but luckily I love to read so it wasnt so hard for me to understand wad the judges were trying to say. =p Some of my classmates weren’t so lucky n had to read thru judgements several times. Then after reading the cases, we had to sort out the usable ones from the ones dat din support our case. After dat, we had to find more cases to read n repeat the whole process. Sometimes a case had up to six judges n each judge had their judgement dat we had to go thru…. Sometimes amounting to 19 pages.

Finally we choose our cases then put it all together in the file separating each case wif a divider. We also had to highlight the parts of the judgements dat we were gonna use so dat it wud be easier for the judge. (ure dead if the judge cant find the part ure citing n gets pissed.) we had 10 cases which was the max cases we cud cite. Then for the appellants, (we were respondents) we juz gave them the stack of cases wifout filing or highlighting it nicely like we did for the judge. =p but they did the same for us anyway.

Then we handed it in at 3pm on fri. the deadline was at 5pm so we were quite happy we finished earlier. But lots of other groups finished way earlier. :(

I lazed around on sat n did my speech on sun, i took only 3hrs. *grin* then I relaxed for the rest of the day. My frens were all stressing out but I din see the point in being stressed coz all we had to do was to read out ur speech to the judge.

On mon my speech was scheduled for 4pm. we went in at 3 to see the 1st group moot. (it was open court meaning any1 cud enter the courtroom to watch. We were the second group. The rest stretched out till wed) then it was our turn… their senior appellant (who happens to be my last yr class rep) presented their speech then I presented mine. I tried to refer as lil as possible to the paper but ended up referring a lot anyway. Haha~ I only took less then 10 mins of the 12 (or is it 15) mins dat I was allocated. My speech was pretty short compared to the rest. But to my defense, its short, sweet n to the point… like me! (yea rite! Im tall ok! Dun believe a thing my dad says!)

Then their junior appellant gave his speech. He was an Indian (from India?? I noe he’s not from msia) n he spoke super fast (ure supposed to speak relatively slowly during moots so dat the judge has time to digest every point u make) I had no idea wad was he toking about n the judge was frowning (which is so not a good sign esp when she’s the one giving the marks…) sometimes she even had to ask him to repeat himself several times.

Then it was my junior respondent’s (caroline from my class last yr) turn n she gave her speech n towards the end she stumbled on a word or 2 n I cud tell she was getting thirsty (I mean imagine toking non-stop for 10 mins!) coz I was also thirsty. Haha~

(btw... here's the title of one of the cases we went thru. "Brinkibon Ltd v Stahag Stahl and Stahlwarenhandelsgesellschaft " no kidding. thank god we din use it. haha~)

Then after the appellants gave their rebuttal speech, it was all over!!! Whohoo!! I pity the groups after us coz some of them have their turn on wed which is 2 extra days of stress. =p

Btw… mooting speeches have to be full of ‘my lady’ n ‘my ladyship’ n ‘if it pleases the court’ n ‘much obliged my lady’…. So super polite! Sumhow it kinda feels like groveling to me. *shrugs*

My opinion on mooting… a blardy waste of time n effort!!! Imagine goin thru so many cases n in the end for the speech only citing less then half of the cases u went thru which is about half of the cases in ur bundle of authorities. All dat effort for 10mins or so of talk!!!

The results r out! i dunno my marks, but my partner n i managed to get best court etiquette. yay!!! the other awards were best mooter n best bundle of authorities. several ppl won each award. n altho im juz one of the 8 dat won dat award, i feel so happy!!! *grin*

Anyway, I noe dis is a relli long n boring post, so here r a few pics to make dis post more interesting. =p

caroline, ming yuen, me

Client interview
(20th march, tuesday)

I juz had my client interview!!! It was for my ‘communication skills for lawyers’ class. For the client interview, a senior wud pretend to be the client then we wud have to interview them. The point of dis exercise is to test our communication skills. Eg. how to ctrl the situation. Sounds easy rite? Its not so simple.

For eg, the 2 seniors wud pretend to wanna have a divorce, then suddenly a 3rd party wud enter the room n they’d start yelling at each other. One of the groups even had to interview 3 clients who were blind, mute n deaf! For my turn, I got Carole!!! (she’s from an earlier intake but I noe her coz she’s my frens hsemate n I go to their place very often.) when I saw inside, I was like damn! Coz although she’s a fren, she already warned us dat she’s the client from hell n dat she wudnt play favourites.

Our scenario was a bit diff from the rest of the other groups coz the others entered the room n were slightly briefed b4 the client entered. But when we entered, our ‘client’ was already sitting there n she scolded us for being late. Karen (my partner) n I immediately were on our toes. We din even have time to put our stuff down. But I tink we recovered nicely coz we instantly were all hospitable n offered her a bottle of water n some sweets. Then she calmed down n we even gave her a goody bag! (we din have to prepare the sweets n goody bag, but we did it in hopes of softening our ‘client’ – I tink it worked!!)

Then we got her details n asked ‘wad brings u here?’ she then launched into her story dat she was having an affair wif a married man. I asked her wad was her name n she sed ‘Lai’. I knew wad was coming but I had to ask so I asked for his full name. it was ‘lai xiu ching’ lol~ but I din laugh ofcoz, I juz smiled grimly. Then continued her story.

She was at a party wif the guy n she asked him to leave his wife but he was hesitant. Then she pushed him n he hit his head on a vase. She panicked n tot he was dead so he buried him at the hse the party was held at. (So bullcrap rite?? Hahaha~)

Then when we asked for the address she sed she din noe. But she proceeded to tell us dat she returned the nxt nite but the body was gone. (but I tot she din noe the address??) then when I pointed out the loophole in the story she sed she rmbred the hse coz there was a silver merc there n the hse had a blue roof, but all the hses there had blue roofs. -.-“

Then she moved on to tell us about the wife n dat she wanted to sue the wife coz the wife found out bout the affair n slapped her. She tried to trick us into giving her legal advice (we were’nt supposed to give legal advice to the cliens coz dis was juz the 1st interview, besides, we we’re not familiar wif all the law terms yet so if we gave the wrong advice, we were doomed.) by asking wad shud she sue the wife for, but we managed to sidetrack her into giving more details of her story. She then continued to say dat she beat up the wife n tied her up n kept her in her cupboard at home n fed her porridge everyday. (wth???) Karen n I were struggling not to laugh coz her story was so ridiculous.

Then during our last 10 mins, (we had 30mins to conduct the interview n gather all the info to make a report) she suddenly revealed dat she came from a mental asylum. I wanted to shout “WHAT???” so I kinda panicked coz I was unsure wad kind of case it was, I wasn’t sure if we were to take into account anything dat she had sed earlier. To make matters worse, she then continued her story about ‘mr lai’ except dat he was now her father n when we asked about the affair, she sed we were sick, ‘how cud she have an affair wif her dad??’. So Karen n I were like very lost but we still pretended we had everything under ctrl n we thanked our ‘client’ for coming to see us.

After our client left, our teacher sed we were very professional n we had great teamwork n we also asked good questions -although our client evaded most questions, but she sed it was not our fault. Overall she was very happy n we were very good! Yay!!!!

It was so fun!!! I cant wait to torture my juniors in a few mths time!! Hehe~

dis is jason n his partner, they went in b4 us

jason helped me take dis... nice le~ =p

procrastinating

today as i was walking to sch i saw dis car which had an interesting bumper sticker. it sed

"ppl are hardworking because they dunno how to fish"

i din get it at first, but i split sec ltr it came to me. fish: catch a rich partner. haha...

anyway, im seriously beginning to tink dat africans are deaf. dat wud explain y they always tok as if they r shouting at each other n they always play music or the tv damn loud. i mean if volume 18 is loud n clear to me, y do they have to put it at volume 28?? or even until 30sth??

juz now as i was taking my shower downstairs (coz the only loo wif heater is downstairs. stupid rite? stupid landlord!) one of the africans played the tv damn loud in the tv room. at first she played sum kelly clarkson songs, then she moved onto more clubbish music... so there i was shaking my booty in the loo. lol~ anyway i dun mind the loud music when im bathing n doin other stuff dat dun need so much concentration, but when i wanna study or sleep n they play such loud music or start one of their shouting convos, i wanna bash them up! i relli dun understand y r they so deaf... i mean africa is like a dessert-ish place rite? no noise pollution...juz loads of wild animals. maybe its coz of the bombs in sierra leona (or however u spell it. -saw it in blood diamonds)

sigh sigh...got loadz of work to do but i dun feel like doin it... btw i rearraged my room again! i tink its like the 3rd time i rearranged my room since moving in. haha... there was a table in the landing dats bigger than the ones dat were in my room. (there r 2 tables in my room coz its a twin room but i wanted din wanna share so im paying for 2 ppl.) so i dragged it into my room n switched it wif one of my tables! hehe~ now i have more space to put my stuff! yay!

btw... here's sth for my dearest sis. i took it during cny but totally forgot bout it. its from sum mag... its a bit blur but readable...

lets zoom in a lil...

keanu is on the right... so UGLY!!! muahaha~

owh ya, day b4 yesterday, some ppl came over to fix my ceiling coz they kinda cracked it when they were installing the wireless. it only occurred to me to take photos for my blog after they began. so dis 1st pic is after the guy tore down a board already.

see all the wires hanging down...

my poor room.. all the grey stuff near the door is debris...

the guy's taking down another board

resulting in more debris n plaster on my poor floor :(

i tink he's 'cabut-ing' nails

he's holding the new unpainted board n the other dude's passing him a nail...

i juz realised i had no pics of the finished product n im too lazy to take anothr pic. so i guess dats it. haha~

i saw this quiz in my frens blog, n i cant resist quizes so i took it.

u've got to be kidding me... haha... as if la like im so nice. so i took the quiz twice n purposely put a few selfish answers whenever i was spoilt for choice. the result was exactly the same... i guess a AM so nice. *grins*

ps: charles take dis quiz... i wanna noe the results! hehe~

Sleep

last nite i came across the blog of a girl dat i din relli like in the past. its not dat i hated her or anything, i juz din relli like her dat much. anyway, as i read her blog, i came to sympathize with her. u see, she had been wif her bf for 2yrs but when her bf wanted to leave to perth dis yr, they broke up. prior to the breakup, her bf had already started treating her badly, like he'd make up excuses not to go out wif her n go out wif his frens instead n they'd fight n argue over every lildat although she suffered so much in dis relationship, she relli did love the guy.
all dat happened last yr. n all i noe is dat now the guy has a new gf in perth. i dunno if she has any1 now, but i hope she wont suffer as much as b4.
the point is, her blog relli got me tinking... wad if the same thing happened to me? i mean she was wif her bf for 2yrs! n my 1st yr anniversary is only juz coming up...

FAITH is stepping into the unknown, trusting dat u will either be given sth solid to step on or u will be taught to fly.

i hope i will be taught to fly! but levitation will do juz as well thank u very much. =p

i cudnt sleep last nite, i dunno if it was bcoz i read her blog or because my laptop cudnt off coz it was upgrading sth. or maybe it was coz i was too worried dat i'd wasted the whole day on9 n din do the stuff i was supposed to do. wadever it was, my laptop eventually finished upgrading n i fell asleep at about 3. it was a very light kinda sleep n i felt like a zombie in the morning. im considering sleeping now, but i've still got loads of stuff to do. i need to do my laundry, legal method assignment, read up for mooting, do criminal essay (dat was actually due today), prepare for my client interview, re-do my consti notes (coz i tried to squeeze everything onto 1 pg when it was meant for at least 2 double pages).... haihh... n to tink dat i was so free juz last week. its like once the ball rolls, it relli rolls. haha~
