Money

In class today, my classmates n I were toking bout our bar n llb (exams we have to pass in order to become practicing lawyers) then I commented dat I’d juz prefer to be taken care of my by husband in the future. For example become a journalist for interests sake, not for the pay as the pay is definitely not as high as a lawyer’s pay. I juz meant it as wishful tinking, but they started shooting me down, saying stuff like life wasn’t a bed of roses n dat I hadn’t experienced enuf of life n I had a very ‘sampat’ tinking. In short, I feel very offended.
Hellooo… who r the one’s still living wif their parents? They buy Gucci n Prada n D&G n live out a totally pampered life n they dare tell me dat I haven’t experienced enuf of life??? They cant even cook a simple meal!!! I juz wanna live out a relaxed life wif enuf income to cover not only daily expenses, but also a few extravagant buys. Sure, loads n loads of money is welcome, but not totally necessary to live my life wif. I dun exactly need stuff like Jean Paul Gaultier to survive ya noe… sheesh!!! I sumtimes find all dis emphasis on brand names totally superficial.
Then they started telling me dat money is not exactly everything, but its still everything. N yada yada bout the value of money n how ppl will look down on those wifout money… I dunno how another wud feel in my position. But I feel dat their line of thought is so so snobbish!!! I mean, who r they to talk? Their parents buy them cars juz coz they get their driving license n some have nvr even taken any form of public transport b4!
I suppose its bcoz they were born on the lap of luxury dat they simply dun see any other alternative lifestyle. They even wanna better the kind of lifestyle dat they have now. Ok, fine, ambition is good, but u dun have to be so damn materialistic!!!
Maybe im the one who’s too optimistic, but I like my line of thoughts n im not gonna change it. Ok, I also admit that im lazy n will take the easiest way out possible whenever necessary, dats y im willing to let the main financial provider be my husband in the future. Im all for female empowerment, but sometimes, a lady’s better of juz letting the men do most of the work.
While they were saying all this, I gave up trying to clarify myself. I mean there’s nth one can do if the other side juz refuses to consider the other side of the coin. So I juz shut up. They probably tot dat they were so right dat I had nth else to say to rebutt, but I knew if I disagreed further, they wud get offended n conflicts wud start. So fine, let me be the only one dat gets insulted. After all, its always majority over minority regardless of logic n rationale.
Its funny how a lot of kch ppl find lodgians snobbish. They shud relli meet taylorians n kdu students in kl.(taylors is the most expensive college in kl and kdu is in the rich area of damansara) They tink dat swak n sabah are relli kampung-ish places n look down on east Malaysians. Its like they dun even see us as part of msia. Then they tink of themselves as so urban and ‘in’ compared to us. they’ll nvr admit all dis, but its relli apparent in the way they behave. And the thing is, the emphasis on brands is even worse overseas than here. I so hope I wont be influenced when I go to UK. I dun wanna be a snob like them!!!
