gawd, u wont believe how anally retentive these ppl are towards fire doors. *sigh* what a mood dampener. as if propping open fire doors are the source of fires. wtf
do they have any idea how noisy those doors are?? every time we open them, they automatically swing back and slam themselves. the kitchen door, bedroom doors and flat doors are all fire doors. propping open the kitchen door reduces noise pollution by half a million times and also enables us to smell and hear whatever is stewing on the stove, thereby REDUCING the risk of fires. frigid, narrow minded blockheads!
AHEM! enough ranting. i was actually very happy when i got home just now because the performance was a great success :D
more about it when i get the pics!

worlds apart
i was preparing bmt's for tomorrows 'sub of the day' when a memory slipped unbidden into my mind.
of sneaking out in between classes for the aromatic eu cha kueh sold outside asia cafe, self-declarations of tenzai! mario go-kart racing, hair cuts on a whim, late night movies and series... carrefour, taka... treasure hunts and many many sulks... taking turns to wait by the stairs, ramly burgers, huge shared fruit juices... confetti (wtf), pigs and hogs... smelly pillows...
i blinked and there i was, back in subway, i'd finished the camro.
i am in a totally different world now.
if it was meant to be, it WILL be. maybe not now, not tommorrow, nor next month but maybe next year, or the year after that...
but for now, life will run its course and come what may.

awana review and other pictures
ok, before i proceed, my friend has lost his dog, so if u live in kuching and have any info, please do let me/him know.
more info HERE.
found on the wall of a dressing room
there were more quotes, but i was kinda in a hurry :S
outfit of the day
plus very red scarf to feel the chinese new year spirit. wtf
the brand new stuff i wore that day: socks, underwear, top, vest
semi-new: bag n wallet
like i said in the previous post, we went to awana for dinner.
we got off at the south kensington tube stop and found our way to the restaurant. its fairly easy to find if u have the map with you :)
remember that i said that i wanted to go to the hummingbird bakery at portobello market but it was closed? well, as stella and i were searching for awana at south kensington, i spotted another branch! whee!!! it must have been fate :D
so we popped in and took away (its more expensive to eat-in and we were just about to have dinner anyway) 3 cupcakes including the ever so famous red velvet.
a few minutes later, we found awana (quite by accident. wtf) and decided to go in even if we were quite early for our 6.30pm reservation.
at the reception, they took our jackets and gave us a tag. then we were told to wait in the lounge area while they prepared our table. then we were asked if we wanted any drinks. we asked for tap water. according to a review of the restaurant, the lounge is just a ploy to try to increase revenue with expensive drinks. so heads up people!
soon we were seated and given menus.
my CNY date
while ordering, i asked many questions about the laksa as i wanted to make sure if it was the sarawak laksa or west malaysian laksa. i didnt quite like the waiter as he said it was just MALAYSIAN laksa and didnt show any signs of wanting to ask the manager or anyone else for the information i wanted. sorry la, but im quite picky when it comes to service in posh or semi-posh restaurants. so in the end i gave up and just ordered laksa, come what may. wtf
another minor gripe i had was that the lighting was too dim.
i had to adjust the lighting in all my pics.
great if u have an ugly date, but not so good if u want to take pictures or have a good look at the food they are serving.
the ambience otherwise was very nice and classy though.
too dark so i had to use the candle to illuminate the photos. wtf
stella doesnt like this photo but i think its nice =p
i like how she pairs her bustier with a tshirt :)
the bad thing about using a candle for illumination in pics is the unibrow it created with the help of my spectacles.
the unibrow that u will now see in every picture T.T
except this one because i only have one brow in this pic. wtf
hi, im the hungry unibrow monster. feed me!
finally i have my hummingbird bakery cupcakes!
the tag that they gave for hanging our coats.
awana address... if u can read it =p
the arrival of the food was signified by the presence of a hunky long haired chinese waiter *wink*
sotong bakar 8pounds (damn i wish my keyboard had the pound sign).
in malaysia, im not usually tempted to eat sotong. i mean i dont hate sotong, but im not a die-hard fan either. so when stella asked me to try her dish, i wasnt all excited. but when i put it into my mouth... omg so yummy wei! the sotong was the perfect level of smelliness but not overwhelmingly pungent. and whatever they stuffed complemented the sotong perfectly! i couldnt help myself from taking another piece, and nearly took another, but paiseh because it was stella's food and there wasnt much in the 1st place.
both stella and i had laksa as our main course.
$14.80
at 1st i was kinda disappointed that it looked like the west malaysian curry style laksa, but the noodles were our sarawakian style laksa vermicelli. still disappointed with the curry-like sauce, i took a mouthful... of heaven! it was so so coconuty! and strangely slightly sweet, but in a nice way. its kinda like sarawak laksa (its prawn based), but also NOT like it. hard to explain, but u'll have to try it yourself. i cant say how much it is like the west malaysian laksa because i've never tried it (i've always been put off by the curry-ish appearance and yellow noodles), but this dish was a WINNER!
i ordered a dragon eye cocktail.
i figured that it was CNY afterall, so we should have at least a sip of alcohol.
for those of u who like fruity alcohol, u MUST try this! so so yummy. and im not even an alcohol fan! so if i say its good, it must be!
this is my kuih bingka which is basically just tapioca cake.
they served it warm with a cold santan-ish dip. it was so so good, even better than the wet market originals i used to eat back home! (or maybe their trick was serving it warm with a cold sauce which made it taste even better)
this was sooo scrumptious, i ordered 2 to take home, despite one serving costing $6!
more than 10 times more expensive than those back home, but... a taste of home is worth it babeh!
at the doorway
:D
after a very full dinner, feeling satiated, stella and i walked back to the tube station and took the same tube. however, i got off 1st and we parted ways.
once i got home, i was soo excited to take a close look at my cupcakes eventhough i was still to full to eat them, i wanted to check if they were still ok.
the famous red velvet is on the top right. the other 2 are chocolate cupcakes.
i had 2 for breakfast this morning, and i guess i was expecting too much or maybe it was because i left them overnight, but they were'nt as amazing as i hoped they would be.
not even the red velvet :(
more info HERE.

Happy CNY peeps!
so far, the CNY hasnt been very kind to me, but im still gonna be a trooper and be happy and positive. so there! sucker! muahaha! *childish*
bad stuff: i have a deferred disciplinary for my international law (dont ask me about this, i dont wana talk about this) and my tooth filling came out.
as for my tooth filling, it wasnt just a tiny chip that fell out, it looks like half my tooth fell out -________-
i cant live with half a tooth! so i shoved the filling back into place. wtf
but alot of it has chipped off, so its kinda loose now. i was afraid cavities might fester, so i took the filling out, brushed both it and my tooth, then shoved it back into place. wtf
now i need to find a dentist :(
ok, ENOUGH NEGATIVE STUFF!
i was actually very happy today and was gonna upload all my pictures and blog about my happy day, but that was not to be, as flickr decided to jam on me TWICE. so i lost my mood to blog a long happy post T.T
waitaminute, i said no more negative stuff!
let me tell u wad i did today! i took the 10.30am bus down to london n met up with stella. then we headed to portobello market and had lunch at a quaint little eatery there called "humble pie". it was yummilicious! or maybe its because we were too hungry... hmm...
after lunch, we browsed around the market, keeping an eye out for the famous hummingbird bakery. but alas, when we reached it, it was CLOSED. the horrors! this is the 2nd time i went to portobello market aiming to have the cupcakes at this bakery and this is the 2nd time its closed! the 1st time, we arrived at their doorstep just as they shut the door and turned the sign to "closed" T.T
then today, the sign said that they closed on mondays. but a separate sign said that they will open on mondays starting 2nd feb '09. wtf
disappointed, we continued our way down portobello market and found this lovely shop which sold an array of 'little miss' tshirts! this is unusual because most places only sell one or 2 kinds of 'little miss' shirts, but this place had about a dozen of them! even a 'little miss magic' that i had never heard of! i was tempted to get that one, or the 'little miss late' one, but i got the 'little miss bossy' one instead coz the material and cutting was better =p
summore there was a promotion, so 3 shirts were 20pounds :D
stella bought 2 shirts, 'little miss sunshine' and err... we were debating about which other one she should get and i cant remember which one she got in the end -_-"
another great shop there was FARA. it was a charity shop, so the stuff there was really cheap! i bought a working lady dress there for 6.50pounds! and stella got a shirtdress there too :)
and there was this vintage shop that had pics of celebrities that visited it on the door of their shop. the salesmen were extremely helpful and friendly, telling me the layout of the shop and where to find what, but when i saw the price on those babies, i was outta there! wtf
no wonder celebrities shop there la... only they can afford. wtf
hmm... i guess portobello market was considerably quiet today since it was a weekday, the next market i wanna visit is camden! :D
after finishing the stretch that is portobello market, stella and i headed to dinner at awana. stella discovered this place online and it had 50% discount if u ordered a main course and any side dish, so we decided to give this place a try and stella made dinner reservations.
in light of the 50% discount, we thought that the place wouldnt be that good, and had struggling business or something, thats why it had to have such a promotion. so we werent expecting much. but this place managed to totally blow our socks off!
it was delish to the max! well, the stuff we ordered were anyway. stella had a starter of sotong, then we both had laksa as our main, followed by my tapioca cake dessert.
it was soo orgasmic that i ordered 2 portions of tapioca cake to tapau.
i'll talk more about the food when i upload the pics!
the best part was paying after the 50% off :D
so if any of you are in london and crave malaysian food, THIS is the place to go to. but remember to check if there is a promotion before u go, otherwise this place is pretty pricey ;)
after dinner, we parted at the tube and here i am typing away =p

TMI
TMI: too much info
and thats exactly what this post is gonna be about.
i havent been very personal on my blog lately, so... lets get personal!
by personal, it means that im gonna talk about my period and armpit hair and stuff. so if you want to know me, but just not THAT well, then shoo, off you go now :)
you're still here?
ok, im gonna let my incoherent mind loose now.
so where shall i start? oh yes, im having my period now, it started last night after i showered. haha... i made it sound so instantaneous. wtf
anyway, i didnt use to have any period pain when i was younger. i strongly suspect that this was due to the tonnes of exercise i used to have training for sports and during dance classes. and err... also a nightly dosage of primrose oil. but ever since i left home, i've altogether stopped any form of exercise and have also become lazy in taking my vitamins.
as a result, my periods are becoming less and less painless. now, i can actually feel that part of my body which is my uterus. u know why? because i feel like it is being pulled out of my body. ok, that sounds damn painful. the degree of pain is only about a 3, but the sensation does feel that way.
and the worst part of periods -besides the pain, is when you can feel your period just suddenly gushing out. im sure all of you girls have experienced this before. then u wonder, eh, how much exactly came out ar? got stain? did my pad contain it all? (guys, if you're still here, still reading, bravo. wtf) but usually, not much came out, it just FEELS like alot did.
imagine this happening when you're at the till, handling transactions.
"would you like any drinks?"
"would you like to make it a meal deal?"
"that'll be $5.99 sir."
"taking out or eating in?"
"here's your change $4.01, here are some vouchers."
"cheers!"
(all our transactions sound like this. very standard wan. i get so thirsty when i get stuck at the till. have to say this again and again without break.)
plus, if the customer is a regular, then some small talk would ensue.
"just got off work?" "yea, many customers today?"
"not that many, will have to wait till the students come back from their holidays" "oh, it will be very busy then!"
"yup! enjoy your meal!" "cheers!"
imagine doing all that while feeling your period gushing out. wtf
summore cannot change facial expression and must pretend that nothing is happening.
*sigh* the joys of being female -_-"
anyways, i just showered and since it's gonne be Chinese New Year tomorrow ('today' to many of you), i decided to spring clean my body. wtf. i exfoliated both my face and body and would have put a mask in my hair if i had one, but i dont. oh well.
then i came out and slathered night cream on my face and lotion on my body. then i decided to do a complete job and start plucking.
so i lifted my arms to expose very neglected underarms (its winter what! i need all the hair i can get. wtf) and reached deep into the undergrowth and started yanking. note to self: plucking needs to be done weekly. once in 2 weeks at least. not once a monthor two. wtf
but it surprisingly didnt take long to achieve smooth hairless armpits again. i think its because i've always plucked and never shaved before, so there's less hair. btw, a shoutout to all u armpit shavers, its bad for you! you should pluck! its not as painful as u think, and shaving makes your armpit look dark, plus there will be more hair and the regrowth is twice (or more) than that of plucking.
after cleaning the tweezers, i decided that i might as well reshape my eyebrows as they are now shapeless bushes. no la, cant be bushes coz i have very little eyebrow hair, but it was shapeless nonetheless :(
*sigh* i like thick eyebrows *wistful*
so now here i am, trying to remember chinese new year traditions. oh ya, i remembered one! dont wash hair the night before CNY! too late -_-"
no wonder im poor every year la! -___-
bernie just told me that im supposed to eat kaya on the 3rd or 4th day. kaya??? how come i never heard of that tradition before??
and we're not supposed to sweep right? no worries here as my floor is carpeted. wtf
but to be safe i wont vacumn this week =p
oh ya, i wanna eat fish and yee sang T.T
hopefully i'll be able to eat it tomorrow :)
you know you're in a foreign land when you ask for a holiday on the 26th (CNY) and your boss asks why. in malaysia, you would have to be deaf and blind not to know the approach of CNY :(
funny joke of the day:
bernie told me that on the 7th day, we're supposed to eat 7 types of vegtables.
when i told jo, she said: but you're only supposed to eat '5 a day'!
i found that sooo hilarious!
if you dont get it, it goes like this. in the UK health is very important, so on nearly all foodstuff, there will be a label stating how many of your five a day that one portion of that food would fulfill.
err... ok, so you might not find this funny, nevermind.
i initially planned on rambling more, but something more important has occured. bye.

homosexuality
hey lodgians, remember the stories we had to read in high school when mrs (vivian) chan was our english teacher?
among them was a story of a boy who wanted to be a girl.
although i cant remember the title of the story, i do remember how sad it was and how strongly his/her father opposed it (summore in the end the father went to find her and found her working as a sort-of hooker. so sad T.T).
after reading the story, we went through it as a class and mrs chan taught us the difference between, homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders.
i think everyone should know the difference between them and not be confused.
homosexual: a person who is attracted to those of the same gender.
bisexual: someone who is attracted to members of both sexes.
transgender: those whose gender identity did not mesh with their gender assigned at birth
but the focus of this post is on homosexuality which will be discussed in the video below:
for more info on lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals, please click here. if u are non-tolerant however, dont buat kacau k? :)
and no la, im not stepping out of the closet. wtf

digi music
i recently found out about the music thingamajig that digi was having. so i went to the website and had a look for myself. some of the videos were really sweet, but some were LOLWTF!
like this one:
omg, where got boyfriend so evil wan, dedicate a song to his gf telling the whole world how lala she is
sure its funny, but if i were her, i would soo send a song right back at him.
but i find this next video to be very sweet :)
the guy looks like a typical chinese boy, but his gf is unexpectedly an indian (if im not mistaken) and she's so cool with it, she starts dancing!
he obviously cares alot for her. aww...
err... got more la, but u guys go see for yourselves la. damn, sometimes i really wish i were back in kl -_-
************
on the contrary, i think this is a win!
can save money on transportation. plus with so much weight, the truck cant move fast anyway. so not that dangerous. wtf

pots and pans
here's a little tip to those who will be living away from home.
be sure to invest in a good set of pots and pans.
here in the UK, dirt cheap pots and pans can be found. however, the metal corrodes within 3 uses and food gets stuck to the bottom and burns before your dish is fully cooked. plus scrubbing the pot will always be a pain in the ass.
im not saying that one should buy super expensive cookware, im just saying that one should inspect the item carefully before u buy it. be sure to ensure that the material is not too flimsy, u dont want the chemicals melting into your food. its also good to look out for the terms "stainless steel" and "non-stick". however, check the item carefully because some items might be labeled as that but dont really work that way.
and its always easier to buy a medium priced item that can be used for several years rather than a cheap item that can only be used for a month.
err... i know some people would apply the same theory to clothes, but clothes are different because price does not determine the workmanship of clothes. it just establishes brand name =p
besides, lets say (assuming that the quality of cheap clothing is lower than that of expensive clothes), for one item of branded clothing, u can buy 20 non-branded items. the branded item can be worn and washed 100 times before it begins to show signs of wear and tear. but if u have 20 non-branded items and assuming u can wear one only 30 times before it begins to show signs of wear and tear, u can wear those items 600 times. thats wayyy more variety for the same price! err... does that make sense? wtf
kononnya talking about pots and pans. i've strayed from the topic -_-"
ps: im no expert in pots and pans, im just saying this out of experience.

this happened long ago.
one of the days before my exam, i studied at jeannie's place. after that, i went to subway to collect my paycheck.
my manager misplaced the cheque, so i had to wait for him. he took a long time, so i took out my books and started studying. see, wad a good girl i am!actually it was last minute cramming so no choice. wtf
anyway, among the customers was a lady, actually the word lady doesnt suit her, she was very coarse. i shall call her the woman. back to the story, then a man came in and asked her for her shirt -the one she was wearing. i dont know why he had to have it and what their relation was (maybe they worked at the same place and he needed the uniform, assuming that the shirt was a uniform because i didnt get a god look at the shirt.), but the woman decided to strip off the shirt right there and then to give it to him.
note that subway has a toilet and it was unoccupied!
the shirt was under her jacket.
a lousy shot, but i was trying to be indiscreet. if she dares to strip in public, she surely wouldnt hesitate to whack me! :S
after giving the guy the shirt, they both left. strange...
i received a letter from val!
i saw the picture and already knew who it was from! haha~
*sigh* val and her cutie envelopes and papers.
so i put a cutie snowman to cover her address. haha~
i love her cutie stuff *insert cute emoticon*
she even numbered the pages. LOL!
thanks val! i'll reply u soon! probably in febuary after the dance thing =p
(exam period) because prevention is better than cure. wtf
the night after our exam
but it was soo soo boring that instead of relieving stress after an exam, i feel even more stressed just being there.
yes, clubbing in oxford is that bad -_-
summore since we already paid to enter the club we didnt wanna just waste the money and leave. haha... damn kiasu.
i havent been in a club since that night -_-"
at least i managed to get a good (albeit grainy) picture out of that night.
after clubbing, unlike kl, they dont have any mamaks to go to, so we went to kebab kid which is as close as it gets.
this guy's boxers was disgusting... got brown patches on it! *geli*
ok, change topic.
on new years eve, i had dinner at ainun's place!
i was supposed to countdown at another venue, but i didnt get any phone call or msg, so i thought it was cancelled. manatahu i forgot to off my laptop and my fren msged me there -_-"
nerdy me
wei yee giving me "the look" while she spoons out her favourite naga chilli =p
recently my laptop gave me the blue screen of death.
instead of feeling afraid, i was blardy pissed off at my laptop. i baru reformatted it before coming to the uk, how dare it do this to me! *kick*
*sigh* thats, why i knew it wouldnt be long before i had no choice but to get a new laptop, sparking my curent hunt.
what do u feel when u see this photo?
to me, the word "gnarly" comes to mind.
it just automatically popped out :S
my, such gloom.
there are lots of roadworks going on in oxford.
quite irritating when they move bus stops and i dont know where the makeshift stop is :S
i saw an amusing sign in a thrift shop the other day:
i deduced that the word "or" was there because if the children were sold as slaves, part of the money could cover the towing fee and the parents neednt be burdened. wtf
the day i went to reading was also the day i first discovered snow in oxford.
no, not like the other night where the snow didnt even reach the ground...
this time it was real, ground-covering snow
i love this picture :D
snow snow snow!
but ever since then, i havent seen any snow as lebat again. rain got la. wtf
i ate dim sum with jo!
we were such gluttons! but it was so good and cheap too! :D
overexposure
underexposure. wtf
i think this top was 2pounds only at the kids section of h&m :D
btw, i have discovered the secret to perky butts!
its in the back pockets of the jeans!
if got alot of stuff at the back there like the jeans im wearing, then the butt will look perkier. but if its just a plain 2 big back pockets, the ass will look flat and fat. serious!
u try la!
pardon the camwhoring moment. long time din camwhore in dressing room dy. wtf
a top/dress we both liked!
but only i bought it coz she din wanna waste money -_-
