subway day

i am utterly exhausted!

1st, lemme tell u why i didnt blog yesterday. i had my ielts test at 9am, but i had to wake up at 6am to catch the 7am bus to the city centre, then catch another bus to summer town. and the night before, i barely slept (not due to nerves, but i havent been able to slip easily to sleep recently. very frustrating i tell u.) 4 hours.

so after the test, i had lunch then bought some groceries and headed home. once i got home at about 5.30pm i washed up, read a bit (the ebay book) and crashed on my bed at 7.30pm. hence no blogging.

today, i woke up at 6am and had a heavy breakfast before meeting up with my subway colleagues and also those who worked on other subway branches... to... ... ... paintball!!!

yay! i was so excited! it was my 1st time playing paintball :D

the venue was somewhere outside Reading, about 2 hours from Oxford. the ride had so many twists and turns, i was rather carsick by the time we reached :S

however, that soon passed in the excitement of preparing for "battle" =p

we had to wear a protective vest, a jumpsuit and a helmet (which stunk!). then we were divided into 2 teams. red and blue. there were another 2 teams, brown and green. but blue and red played against each other and likewise for brown and green.

our groups then joined the other blues and reds. we played about 5 rounds, with breaks and lunch in between.

1st game: both teams start at opposing ends of the field and try to kill off all their enemies. if they manage to kill off the other team within the time limit, they get 10 points. but if the teams exceed the time limit, even if one team has all its members and the other team has only one member left, it will be considered a draw.

2nd game: a totem head is placed in the middle of a bridge and both teams begin on opposing ends of the field. the aim is to steal the totem and place it at your oponents base. after the game, the teams switched bases and played again.

3rd game: this one was called graveyard. im not sure why though. the teams are divided into attackers and defenders. the aim of this game is to kill the defendant's president (who has to wear a bright orange vest) within the time limit. my stupid colleague volunteered me to be the president. therefore it was the most boring game for me. i had to sit in the ditch (and fearfully watch a centipede) where i was safe and let the others play. wtf
i couldnt join them because i wasnt even supposed to be seen by the enemy, because once i was shot, my whole team would lose. chis! most boring 15 minutes ever.
luckily my team won and when we switched roles with the other team, i was able to play. then i was so excited, that i became the 1st one killed. WTF

4th game: there are 4 buildings in the field and the aim of the game is to gain control of all 4 buildings within the time limit. my team won both rounds. muahaha~
and i did not get shot at all because i never left the 1st house i entered, which also happened to be the house furthest from the enemy. wtf!

5th game: there is a building in the centre of the field. one team has it as their base and they have to defend it from the other team which will attempt to place a mock dynamite in it. the game ends either once the dynamite is placed (no throwing) in the building (which technically can only happen after you've killed everyone in the building) or when it reaches the time limit. in this game, it rocks to be the attacker because its the only game that we get to respawn. however, it sucks to be the defender because u get cornered up in the building and they attack you from all sides and u cant respawn. its like waiting to be killed and hope that u manage to survive till the times up. after a game, we reverse roles.

my only complaint was that paint pellets were damn expensive (6.99pounds for 100 pellets), so we only got very few pellets each. if we wanted more, we had to pay for them ourselves. in the end, i couldnt tahan being ammo-less, so i shared with a colleague to buy a packet of pellets.

after the games had ended, the winning team was declared and certificates given to the members. so i now have a paintballing certificate. LOL.

we then headed to Reading to chill in the Oracle for awhile (a shopping centre) and have ice-cream.

on the way home, we stopped by a field of yellow flowers to take pictures. it was soooo amazing and beautiful! exactly like those postcard pictures! i dont have the pictures with me now, but i'll post them up with the paintball pictures when i get them :D

so here i am now, freshly showered and bone weary. imma fill my tummy then hit the sack. nights!
