i began the 1st day of the new year, slugging through my BVC application.
when i reached the "supporting evidence" part, i gave up and started watching a series instead.
the supporting evidence part of the application is where they will give us several topics and we will have to answer each in an essay. the topics which i find alright and reasonable are "Mini-Pupillages and other Bar-related experience", "Reasons for choice of career", "Advocacy and public speaking" and "personal organizational skills".
but the topic which i find utterly ridiculous is "evidence of intellectual ability".
seriously.
its like an insult to even ask this question.
its one of those questions that leave a person completely blank and at a loss for words.
ridiculous! and to write an essay on it too!
jo suggested: "My mommy told me I have a brain so I believe I am intellectual enough."
edine suggested: " the fact that i am able to answer this question clearly proves that i have intellectual ability"
yes, im sure im going to jeopardize my application with a wisecrack answer like that.
***************
on another note, im feeling quite bothered.
the room to my right has been vacated for quite awhile, but just now i heard someone inside. since i knew all my flatmates were away, i was naturally cautious. so i called a friend to come up and i knocked on the door. a guy wearing the hall security uniform opened it and said that they came to check on the central heating and told us not to panic. so i left it at that.
awhile later, it occured to me that it was 10pm. why was someone checking the central heating in a vacated room at such a late hour. so i was already feeling very wary.
at 11pm, i was hungry, so i went to the kitchen to cook something to eat. i put a knife within reach just in case (damn paranoid). as i was cooking, a guy entered the kitchen. it was a different guy from before but also wearing the uniform. i instinctively clutched the knife. then he spoke about how i should close the kitchen door when i cook, and that i could open the windows and i should on the kitchen exhaust fan. then he came towards be and turned it on, even after i said "please dont come so close". there was a hint of a smile on his face. i think he was amused by my wariness of him and that he came to on the exhaust fan just to provoke me. but then again it might just be the paranoia of a girl living in a flat alone.
its 1am now and i can still hear someone moving around in the room nxt to mine. im not sure if they are really there legitimately or are doing something fishy. i tried calling security but noone picked up. oh well, tomorrow i'll go down to reception to ask around.
