this is a continuation from this post.
well, i visited both universities today to check out the campuses and location.
to be honest, im deathly afraid of making the wrong decision. i wouldnt be feeling this way if the uni i decided upon was the uni my friends are going to (City). but i feel that the other uni (College) is better for me. i dont want to make the choice of going into a uni alone and then regret it when i find out that the education i can get from the uni with all my friends in it is better :S
both institutions are quite similar in terms of what they offer. however, College of Law has smaller classes and a more personal approach that i feel will benefit me more because it will force me to study harder. it also has slightly more hours of classes a week. both both institutions have classes only on 4 days a week. the remaining day is supposed to be for us to catch up on our readings.
plus there is a subway just around the corner and if i decide to get a part-time job, this will be a great starting point. wtf
the campus of College of Law looks slightly more professional looking and the people there more polished. City Law School rents its space from Grays Inn and the office is small and if one werent looking for it, one would have missed it completely. but one should not judge a uni based on its office because i heard LSE is not so pro looking either, but its such an established and famous uni.
one thing i dont fancy so much about City is that the buildings are scattered around and one has to walk from one building to another that is a few blocks away. just about 5-8mins walk away, but still. the only example i can think of is the ADP part of Taylors College in subang jaya. its a few minutes away from the main campus, but sometimes the ADP students have to go to the main campus for certain classes. College has its buildings right next to each other.
a plus point for City though is that its is IN Gray's inn itself and Lincolns inn is just right around the corner. this means that there will be plenty of barristers around, perfect for making contacts (if one were into that sort of thing).
but College is not too far away either, so i guess its ok.
my main problem about College is that unlike City, they dont provide any halls of accommodation for its students. this means that i will have to find my own accommodation myself :S
so now, im hunting. definitely NOT fun.
btw, this post was not intended to promote or bash either institution. like i said, they both have their benefits. i guess its just up to what you are looking for. hopefully other students having difficulty in choosing between the two institutions will stumble upon this post and find it useful :D
