spa~~

for the 1st time in my life, i went to a spa today.

no, its not because i struck the lottery or anything, but because there was a promotion going on. for 22pounds, we got to stay in the spa and use its facilities for 4 hours (usually patrons only get 2 hours for that price). however, not everything (such as massages) was included in the package. what was included was the minerva bath, rooftop pool and aroma steam rooms with a waterfall shower.

i'll admit i was slightly hesitant to go to Bath, but i totally did not regret going for the spa at all!!! i did however regret the champagne, but thats another story for another day. today, im only gonna rave about the spa.

i didnt take any pictures in the spa as i suspect it has a no photography policy and also because it would be ridiculous to swim with my phone.

once we paid at the reception, we were given blue wrist bands with a white oval in it. to enter the spa area, we had to scan the white oval to the detector.

the 1st area was the changing rooms. so we changed and put our stuff into the lockers. to lock the lockers, we waved the white oval at a detector and the locker would lock. to open the locker, we merely had to wave the white oval over it again. so canggih right?? *sakai* i love that they dont use keys or require us to pay everytime we wanna open and close the locker.

then we trooped down to the minerva bath which was a swimming pool with deliciously warm water. swimming in warm water on a cold day is a hard experience to beat :)
they provided u-shaped tubes which were used to keep us afloat when we were sick of paddling and just wanted to lie back. one part of the pool was a jacuzzi area and at another part, water occasionally sprayed out forcefully, creating a nice head and back massage.

having had enough of just lazing around the pool, we were itching to try out the other stuff the spa offered. so off we went to the steam room. upon nearing the steam room, one can already smell a strong aroma. the aroma reminds me of mentholatum, but im not sure what smell it is exactly. i did enjoy the smell though some others may be put of by the strength of the aroma. in the steam room, there are 4 smaller steam rooms in it where the real steaming takes place. the humidity in the main steam room is only the beginning ;)
each room suposedly has its own scent, but after awhile, everything began to smell the same to me :S
there were also foot basins in the main steam room for us to put our feet into and turn the tap to start the water running. and when we waved at a sensor next to the tap, the water would begin to bubble :D
omg, i looooveeee the steam room :D

after spending about an hour in the steam room, we went to the rooftop pool to watch the sunset. the rooftop pool is done in an open air stlye, so i was so afraid of freezing my ass off, but the water was so damn warm, on the verge of being hot, that the whole experience, plus the setting sun, was just perfect :D

after the sunset, we went back to the steam room again to use up the rest of the time. then we showered, changed and left, feeling completely rejuvenated :D

ok, maybe not "completely". when we left, i had a very minor headache. maybe it was because we were in the steam rooms for too long, or maybe it was because of the champagne. i have no idea :S

but i know that when my parents come to the uk for my graduation, im definitely bringing them to Bath! =p
